About Me

Lindsey Toth, Nutrition Expert and Future Registered Dietitian - HealthyBlogSnack.com

As a nutrition expert and future registered dietitian, I love everything there is to love about food: cooking it, baking it, buying it, the way it tastes, the way it smells – you name it!  My love for food has transformed over the years into a love for the science behind the food as well: nutrition.  I believe optimal health begins with good food, and that good food starts with delicious, wholesome ingredients.

.

I am currently a second year graduate student at Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, in Boston, Massachusetts, the only graduate and professional school of nutrition in North America. Here, I am pursuing my master’s degree in Nutrition Communications, as well as my registration as a dietitian, as a dietetic intern at the Frances Stern Nutrition Center at Tufts Medical Center.  I am passionate about communicating health and nutrition information, and I hope to translate this passion into a career in the spring of 2010 when I finish my degree and receive my registration as a dietitian.

.

My passion for food – eating it, baking it, cooking it, buying it – started with my very first Easy Bake Oven, and let me tell ya, I could make one mean brownie with that light bulb.  Ever since then, I have been fascinated with eating and preparing food, until eventually, college gave me the opportunity to look at the science behind the food – nutrition.  The idea that I’m now turning my love for food into a career as a registered dietitian still amazes me today.

My policies on food:
  • If it doesn’t taste good, do not eat it. I don’t care how healthy it claims to be.
  • There are no “good” or “bad” foods - Everything has a place.
  • Vegetables in the form of carrot cake and zucchini bread are still vegetables.
  • Fabulous food should be enjoyed in the company of fabulous people, along with a bottle of fabulous wine.
  • Try everything three times before you decide you don’t like it.
  • No dieting allowed!!!

.

I try to encompass my policies on food in every post, while still adding bits and bites of health and nutrition info to take with you.  Follow me on my food adventures, and please use the “Bite Me!” page to get in touch. Happy Snacking!
